What if menopause is an invitation, a primal call to heed the feminine self that has been suppressed by exogenous hormones at various stages of life, dismissed by Science and Specialists, barred from prestige and and power...until now?
Women: This is our time to recover and rise - for ourselves, and for our children.
Most of what we hear about menopause is a list of things going wrong. Hot flashes. Weight gain. Wrinkles, Broken sleep. A mood that no longer feels like yours. The usual response is to ask how all of this can be made to stop.
I'd like to ask a different question. What if this change is an invitation to dig deep, to identify and reverse damage, to become aware of who we are that we haven't given permission to express, to become ourselves, more fully, authentically, lovingly, and solidly, than ever before?
Seen this way, menopause is a call to care for ourselves according to the laws of nature and to come into full expression. It is also a call to responsibility. The foundations matter more now than they ever did: how we sleep, what we eat, how we move, how much time we spend in nature, and whether our relationships are honest, bring mind, body, and spirit into balance: it is now or never, really. It is simple to describe and takes commitment to practise.
None of this replaces your doctor, and hormone therapy is a personal decision that many women make with good reason. Whatever you choose, the deeper work remains, and no prescription can do it for you.
That work is easier in company. This January, a small group of women will spend three days on a private peninsula in Ontario doing exactly this. We'll explore what each woman is carrying, learn the principles of wellness that apply to all of us, measure where we stand, and share a table and a fire.
Wild Commons: The Menopause Immersion runs January 21 to 24, 2027. Registration closes January 7.If something in you answered yes while reading this, consider saying yes to join us.
